Sunday Session

Welcome to the new Sunday feature on erratic glamour! Please contain your excitement. Basically, Six for Sunday was starting to grate on me, sometimes I don't have 6 specific topics - that are interesting - to discuss. A general post sans structure works better for me. I can ramble to my hearts content without sitting searching for a number 5!

This week wasn't overly busy really. I had a few bits on but mostly my time was taken up by work. I started French lessons on Wednesday night which went really well. It is surprising how much you actually remember, the last time I did french was about 7 years ago at school but I remembered bits and pieces. Wednesday was also curry night, I'm not a massive spicy food fan but this curry with a wee glass of wine went down an absolute treat. Be going back there again when the curry cravings come.

A nasty little cold that is doing the rounds in the office finally got to me and due to a horrible cough I managed to ping my back - on going back problem means it is easy to re injure! - so I spent Friday night and most of Saturday resting and trying to shift both. Luckily I am feeling better today apart from a few little pangs of pain and my cough still hanging about I moved myself and went out. I went to Napiers which is a Herbalist here in Edinburgh to get some jojoba oil for my face as I hear it is good for dry skin especially dry skin that appeared due to my own silly choice of using a product I know doesn't agree with my skin! I also picked up some tea tree oil for my face so hopefully my skin will pull it's act together soon. Once I had got my oils, I headed to get my rook pierced - picture here. I had been putting it off for ages but today I was really in the mood to go and get it done so I told myself this frame of mind is the time to get it done and I did. I love it! Getting pierced is so addictive. I should have believed the piercer when she said I'll see you next time!

Happy Sunday!

SIX FOR SUNDAY

one - the gym
Tuesday night saw my return to the gym. I used to love going to the gym then I branched out and worked out by myself, I'm not sure what I enjoy more. With summer round the coroner who wants to be cramped up in an airless gym? More on my gym trip later...

two - Jamaica Inn
Chosen as my 3rd read of 2014, Daphne Du Maurier's Jamaica Inn is without a doubt one of the most perfectly written novels I've ever read. And I mean ever. Gripping from the get go, this story is just too wonderful. A review to come soon.

three - concussion
So most of this week was spent lying down. I had a bad knock to the end at the gym, went work, felt shit so came home. After a trip to A&E, I have been resting! It isn't fun but as long as my dizzy, fuzzy head stays away then I will be happy. Conclusion, concussion is a weird weird thing! Between naps, YouTube videos and episodes of Suits I've tried to wiggle in some blog post planning.

four - vintage fair
This afternoon was a bit of a time travel experience, myself and some chums headed to a vintage fair in Edinburgh. After being attracted to every other sparkly, jeweled thing in sight I opted to part ways with my cash for a gorgeous black evening top that I plan to wear to my cousins wedding in April. Razzle Dazzle them and all that!

five - Monki
While resting and recuperating, the delivery man appeared at my flat door with a lovely little Monki order. My first time with the brand everything went smoothly. I bought a blouse and a tee both of which I am sadly returning due to not being 100% sure on them. If you aren't sure, chances are you won't wear them but I think in the future I will be purchasing more from Monki - they seem to be the Queens of printed blouse, dresses with details that are just a little bit different and affordable basics.

six - Jeux d'enfants
Love me if you Dare a French film (with english sub titles) starring Marion Cotillard and Gulliaume Canet. Cotillard is my favourite actress so I figured this film would be a nice way to spend my Thursday night, don't get me wrong it was. Little bit of romance, playful flirtatious bickering but a disappointing ending. There is nothing worse than a let down of an ending!

LIFE / INTROVERT

As a self confessed introvert, I think,  people sometimes misunderstand what an introvert is and that introverts come in all forms. I suppose as with everything in life, there are many shapes and sizes. So I figured, I would put my 2 cents in on the topic.

Being an introvert has a lot of negative stigmas that go along with the label but just because you enjoy some time to yourself or conversation that is meaningful rather than passing the time of day with a person, what is so wrong with that?

Oxford Dictionary Definition of an introvert:

introvert
Line breaks: intro|vert
____________________________________
NOUN

1. A shy, reticent person

1.1 Psychology A person predominantly concerned with their own thoughts and feelings rather than with external things. Compare with extrovert.

To an extent, I would agree with this definition. Shy, I think, is a word pasted onto all introverts when in fact this doesn't apply to all of us. Personally, being shy or quiet is normal until I am comfortable around that person. Once I'm comfortable you will probably find it incredibly difficult to shut me up!  I love chatter and finding out about people - tip to getting to know people, ask questions! - you just have to give me time to relax into your company. I'm sure there are other 'introverts' that feel the same, just because I am being quiet doesn't mean that I don't want to be there or feel part of the activities. Listening and observing are traits I hold in high regard. Would you really spend a lot of time talking with someone that just doesn't listen to what you say?

One place where I actually found a definition that I found to be accurate was Urban Dictionary of all places. Not exactly the place you turn to for a sensible definition. I like going out with friends whether it be  nights out, shopping, the pictures, dinner... the list goes on but after spending a long time with people, I just like to chill by myself and re-group. My imagination is a vivid one and sometimes I like to go wandering in it and then come back to earth when I feel recharged. What's so bad about that?!

Are you an introvert? Do you feel tared by the same brush? While researching introverts, I came across this little quiz on the Guardian website. Go do it if you have a free minute, everyone loves a quiz, right?

L I F E : F I T - T I M E

Following a stint away from working out regularly - and properly- I have re joined the haven that is the gym. Basically since moving flat, getting a full time desk job and being time poor due to this I feel sluggish and like I've gained a few pounds that just don't work for me. As the old cliche goes, "eat well and exercise the weight will take care of itself" They go hand in hand!

This said, I am identified some bad eating habits that I've adopted as of late which I need to break.

  • Eating due to boredom. Picking, nibbling, munching... the lot. If you aren't hungry - DON'T EAT. Instead do some sit ups, plans for 30s, get a glass of water. Just do something other than eating because I am bored.
  • Carb Overloading. Before my workout lull, I ate little carbs. If I did so, it was complex carbs such as sweet potato. No pasta, no bread... you catch my drift. Instead of carbs fruit & veg with lean protein.
  • Sweet Treats. I am not a massive fan of sweets or chocolate, I eat them very rarely but the temptation in an office is always there. Sweets and chocolates getting passed round. Pastries delivered on a Friday. Just no. They aren't worth it especially when you don't enjoy it.

Hopefully with a mix of healthy eating, exercise and a positive attitude I'll be back to my A Game before summer.

L I F E / S I X - F O R - S U N D A Y

*I took little to no pictures on the old iPhone this week so a random snap I send to Mama erratic glamour pre-purchase it is.

1. This week saw my first ever planning and buying experience at my new job! It was most exciting and nice to be doing a job that relates to my degree area. It makes working for 4 years - and getting into debt - feel worthwhile.

2. The gym. I haven't been in a long time and my at home workout routine has ground to a halt so I decided to join the gym a few streets up from my work. I need to do some exercise, sitting at a desk all day make me feel really sluggish and meh so a bit of exercise should see me right. And I bought new pretty Nike trainers featuring the fav colour ... orange!

3.Good Reads is my latest obsession. Being a book lover this site just played to all my senses and is aiding in finding more books more the 12 books of 2014 scheme. Not that I need to add more to my already bulging pile of to read books!

4. I found my perfect white blazer in good old H&M for £24.99 - bargain. It is exactly what I wanted in a blazer added that to the matching suit I bought, orange top and dark grey jeans and a shopping spree I did have. I need them for work...

5. After about a week of brown/red hair I have decided to strip the colour out my hair. It's a nice colour but a tad too red for me even if it does look quite cool with my fringe bob. The anti dandruff shampoo is out in prep of the stripping process and hopefully before long I will be back to my blondy-brown locks in no time.

6.I have had a sudden burst to search out vintage pieces for my wardrobe. I am not sure why to be honest apart from seeing so many people that have found interesting and different pieces that are vintage. Plus velvet features heavily in Vintage shops - love me some velvet hubba hubba.

L I F E : S I X - F O R - S U N D A Y

1. Yesterday I finally got my haircut. Rocking a fringe with some length that I can wear down. I have got a full post about my new head of hair well it's not new hair but you know what I mean! I hope?! I won't spoil the surprise for y'all. That wouldn't be fun but if the anticipation is getting to much for you and you don't think you can wait till the day that I finally post the fore mentioned post then go have a peep at my Instagram. I cannot be blamed for any disappointment.

2. Gaslight Anthem has been my soundtrack for the week without a doubt. You can't beat a good Gaslight track. Lyrics with meaning, some guitar and Brian's husky lovely voice. Easy way to get my through my bus ride home from work. Every words handwritten, don't ya know!

3. Friday night involved a lads night with Clare. Lads night includes pizza and cider. We aren't hardcore enough for beer... one day we'll be true lads. One day... *sigh* Anyway, Clare is a YouTuber - Clare McBean - following my awkward experiment on the video platform that is, we decided to make a couple of videos together. This will probably be my first on my channel as I decided my old ones were too awkward, I hated my facial expressions and shat it! Basically. Go check out Clare though.

4. Following my Saturday haircut, myself and my Croc - private joke - Emma took ourselves out for eats. After trying 2 places - one was full, the other just plain manky - we took ourselves to Bar Soba on Hanover Street. An Asian mix with a cocktail menu that features some different and tasty mixes. The food was amazing and that is coming from a non-spice fan. Atmosphere was nice and my company was excellent as always. (I have to be nice about my friends now seen as they read this...)

5. My search for a new TV programme has hit an all time low. Where are all the good TV programmes?! All I'm asking for is some form of crime investigation, possibly an attractive male I can pretend is my boyfriend and possibly a little romance - between attractive male and probably equally as attractive female.

6. Sunday is going to be filled with not a lot. I love a lazy Sunday. Possibly jammies all day cause I'm that crazy and if I manage to find a good programme a good few eps of that...

Happy Sunday Cheekas!

16 February 2014

L I F E : S I X - F O R - S U N D A Y

1. Friday saw the arrival of the day of love - Valentines! My team at work is made up of all women & one man on a temp contract, we all got a Valentine which we presume is from the one man but nothing has been confirmed... It was really cute especially if it was him. And although it was a 'joke' valentine, it's my first one! Safe to say those chocolates got demolished. With it being V-Day, Sainsburys had a little Pug of love reduced so naturally I had to buy it! Meet Mike, my little pug of love.

2. My favourite outfit of the week had to be my Zara spotty blouse - which is coming up in a haul soon - and my Topshop fur gilet. I liked it so much it became a 100 days of happy! (Click here to see more! )

3.Myself & my little live in chummy went to see Wolf of Wall Street on Wednesday night at the Dominian, amazing pictures - couches, little coffee tables, footstools! I didn't enjoy the film as much as I'd expected, the first hour or so was bearable but it just dragged on after that. I may have also fallen asleep too... I blame the couches.

4.I need a new TV series to watch. I don't have anything at the moment that I just come in & watch. Any suggestions are welcome. Generally murder mystery, reality TV or a documentary. Give me a shout if you have any suggestions!

5. I am seriously considering chopping my hair back into a pixie cut. I had a pixie for ages but then decided I wanted to grow it out & have been for nearly a year. I miss my pixie... I think it suit it better too. Something about hair on my face makes the distance from ear to ear look really wide. I am doing some research into pixies as to what I would go for or whether I would just chop everything off again. Watch this space I guess.

6. Not working a weekend is still a total treat for me. It so nice to be able to say to going out & doing things on a Saturday instead of being stuck at work till 9pm. Eventually I am sure this will sink it but for now it is all very new and strange...

Happy Sunday!

Life: Six for Sunday

1. This week I started my new job. Monday was filled with the normal excitement and adrenaline. Tuesday was probably more nervy and scary, to be honest which is odd but that is how it went! It is nice to be doing a job I am interested in and that requires thought & learning. Big up thought & learning! Plus I don't have to wear a uniform, can wear nail polish all day ery-day & get weekends off.

2. 100 happy days has become so popular recently so naturally as a social media fan, I jumped on the bandwagon! I am using Instagram as my platform so if you fancy checking it. out on you go! It makes me think over what has actually cheered up my day that day!I almost fell into the food everyday posting but to be honest, there is more to happiness than food! Who knew! Although, it helps.

3.This weekend marked my first proper weekend off in years. Probably since about the age of 17. I always used to work weekends. This said I wanted to chill out, catch up some friendies & generally just enjoy my days off! So that is what I did! Saturday saw me taking myself for a few drinks .. and a Nandos (I need to workout...) to watch some Six Nations fixtures. Today - Sunday- I don't think I am doing too much, just chilling possibly getting some food shopping in! Oh the glam!

4. After 6 years off the same glasses, I finally bit the bullet & got myself some new specs! About time, considering that the lenses hadn't been update since I bought the old pair so chances I couldn't actually see out of them are extremely high! I probably will do a little blog post about the latest erratic glamour accessory of S/S 2014 cause ya know, I'm chic as f*ck...

5.  Zara Sale. Two words I am sure have made a number of girls (and guys) very happy. Alongside doing amazingly wonderful fashion, the sale is a dream land of reduced amazingly wonderful fashion! A few months ago Mama erratic glamour (Mama F to those closer) posted me a cut out from The Sunday Times because she knew the skirt was right up my street. After feeling a little strapped for cash, I decided not to get it. Skip forward 4 or so months & what do I find in the Zara sale... fore mentioned skirt for the bargain price of dun dun dun .... £10! Sold. I may have also added a blouse too... It was half price!

6. Anyone else watch Vanderpump Rules? I am obsessed. 4 episodes in & I cannot get enough. So much fake drama but so much good drama! Who doesn't love a bar/restaurant based workplace filled with staff sleeping together, bitching about one another & fighting?! Sensible, intellectual TV I am sure you will agree...

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, Happy Sunday chickas x

Life: Six for Sunday

1. This week I decided to spend a few more days in Glasgow at my Mum and Dad's house. I love going home, it is like escaping for a wee while to recharge before the crazy busy that will come from starting my new job on Monday. Being at home also means I get to see my little dog, George. I love this wee guy. We just get each other!

2. While in Glasgow, I met up with my friend Karyn and finally met her little boy. We had lunch and I had a little shot of pushing about Lewis. Of course prior to this I had to hit up Glasgow's branch of Forever 21. This place is a dream land. £30 later I came out one very happy lady. Hey, as long as I'm smiling, it's all ok...

3. I am officially done and dusted with my old work. Starting my new job is so exciting and a bit nerve wracking too but once I get into the swing of things I'm sure it won't be nearly as bad. Starting things is always the toughest part, don't you think?

4. I decided to dip my toe in the YouTube pool. I've just got a wee introduction video up just now but hopefully I should be adding some more soon! erratic glamour on YouTube

5.Today was a sort of 'coming out' to my flatmate about my blogging habits surprisingly she didn't care that much! Shock!

6.Coffee catch ups are always fun. So today I head to Costa for coffee with an old work friend, Clare.

26 January 2014

Life: Six for Sunday

. George . Night out face . Best phone case ever . Dull and dank Glasgow . Manic tweeting pre the call .

1. I had a very concise and well planned blogging calendar for this week but no laptop and a busy week meant I wasn't able to follow through. This might be one of the most annoying things especially when you have the blogging bug! I can post from my phone, it just isn't partixury good for seeing how a post looks on a computer screen. Fingers crossed, my laptop will be back with me Wednesday or Thursday...

2. This weeks been a big one, we'll start from Monday. On Monday, I got the phone call I had been waiting for, I only went and got te graduate job I applied for! I start a week on Monday so of course I had to get new bits for my dressy casual office. Naturally.

3. When I found out about the job I was at my mum and dad's house in Glasgow. I love going to home for a little break, cannot beat it. I got to spend time with my little dog, George and take him for walks in a very dull, dank Glasgow!

4. Friday saw myself and my girls having a little night out. My first since October! Not a clue how that happened... I love getting dressed up, doing my make up and going out. Not a massive fan of getting wasted, not entirely worth it on my opinion.

5. As my hair is getting longer, I am swinging between getting a fringe cut in or just letting my hair growth out all over and go from when I've got the length I want. Hmm tricky...

6. How did I get to number six and forget to mention that obviously I have got a new job so naturally I am *finally* leaving the job that saw me through university. I wouldn't say I was very sad about it, I've wanted it to come for a while so onwards and upwards, I guess.

Hopefully everyone has a lovely Sunday!

12 January 2014

Life: Six for Sunday

1. It has been a funny week this one, busy but actually not that busy if that makes any sense. I was back to work after being off sick for a week.  The time off was necessary, I just wasn't well enough to be there and I am still in some pain due to it. Onwards and upwards.

2. Jobs have played a major role this week. I got offered a new role in work that be good experience on my CV, never a bad thing! Along with researching for interview prep and getting my head round more blog features.

3. Since I have been feeling better, I decided to undertake the 30 Day Squat Challenge again. I did this during my fitness phase of last Spring-Summer and really noticed a difference to my bottom and legs. As long as you stick to it, you will get through them.

4. In a low point of entertaining myself instead of doing my interview prep, I made myself a little Forever 21 order. Although, the ring packs I got are too small, the basic £3 tee I bought is perfect. Especially for £3, more coming my way very soon...

5. I am considering getting a fringe cut in. Purely to change up my hair a bit while it continues to grow out. I had a fringe years ago when my hair was long but who knows if this will actually happen!

6. Next week is yet another busy week for me. Interviews, work and I get my flatmate back on Monday night - Yay! I cannot wait to see her little face and catch up on all the pointless but very serious chatter we have.

Happy Sunday!

Life: Six for Sunday

                                                Charlotte Square- Edinburgh

1. 2014 was brought in quietly - very quietly actually as I was asleep long before midnight - but due to a rather nasty infection going out and seeing the New Year in with my friends just wasn't going to happen. Instead I spent New Years Day with my parents, dog and my book! It was actually really lovely.

2. Edinburgh has adopted me. I came here 4, nearly 5 years ago for University, and fell in love. To the extent that I stayed. My little Instagram snap of the Christmas tree in Charlotte Square is a fitting tribute to the beautiful city.

3. Erratic Glamour had herself a little make over this morning. Something about the old layout, I just didn't like so I re-did. New Year and all!

4. My flatmate and I have decided to jazz up our living room a bit. Purely for the fact it is a bit plain. A few personal touches here and there to make it a bit more homely will pull it all together and I think probably make us want to spent most of our time in there. Ikea we're coming for you.

5. Being a Jane Austen fan of course when I caught wind of the newest take on Pride and Prejudice I would have to snapple it up. And I did. Longbourn by Jo Baker is the 'behind the scenes' story if you like. It details the daily occurrences of the Servants while Lizzie is upstairs swooning over Darcy. So far I have been totally sucked in.

6. Sherlock has returned to our screens *fan girl screams* I am a massive Sherlock fan. Every form of the man. Stories, films, TV programmes... The BBC adaptation is one of my favourites. Benedict Cumberbatch is just so good. Don't contact me from 8.30pm till 10pm tonight... episode 2 shall be getting devoured.

Happy Sunday!

3 January 2014

Life: 2014 Resolutions.

As far as I am aware, I've never actually set down resolutions for myself in writing or on the internet for that matter! 2014 is just the year to do so. This way I guess I am somewhat accountable for not achieving said resolutions. I also have the ability to look back when 2015 (scary thought) rolls round I can check off what I have and haven't done.

I wanted to make my resolutions as precise as they could be in order to stay focused on them so here goes!

2014 Resolutions

1. Find a French tutor in Edinburgh and actually learn the language.

2. Gain some experience in digital marketing whether it be in a permanent role or an internship.

3. Develop my knowledge of blogging including photo editing, HTML coding and improving my writing techniques.

4. Improve and expand on erratic glamour. Including posting regularly.

5. Get back to working out at least 3-4 times a week. Making use of the RunKeeper app.

6. Save & go on holiday this year with te girls.

7. Live in the moment more. Less over thinking and worry more living for now. #yolo

What are your 2014 resolutions?

1 January 2014

Life: A - Z of 2013

2013 is drawing to a close & before long we will be welcoming in a whole new year of adventures, happenings & changes. As years go, this past year has been an eventful one for myself, many things have gone on which - looking back on - have mostly been good. With this thought in my head, I figured a post looking back over the year & what I've have achieved is fitting so here goes the A to Z of 2013! (minus a few letters...)

Adult - No longer a university student I guess I would now be classes as an adult. *sigh* I miss university life but it was never going to last forever & at the time it was pretty amazing.

Books - University & Dissertation writing halted my love of reading & buying new books this year, I just didn't have the time. Once I got use to having some free time, my love for literature & the written word has been alighted once more.

Cooking - This year I discovered a love for find ingredients in the cupboard & make something tasty. I love this approach to cooking, you really do surprise yourself with what you can make with what is lying in your cupboard.

Dissertation - The dreaded Honors dissertation took over pretty much all to most of January to March but in the end I had produced a piece of work that I was incredibly proud of & that got me a mark I am happy with! Hard work pays off.

Eyeliner - During the summer I set down my eyeliner adopting a more natural look but of course that wouldn't last & normal eyeliner service was resumed by the Autumn!

Florist - While seeking full time work, I managed to pick up some extra hours at my current work as a Florist. Basically the only part of the job I enjoy is arranging the bouquets... It's a new skill, what can I say!

Graduation - June 2013 saw my Graduation ceremony. Being an individual that isn't overly enthused about situations putting me in the spot light, the over all day was nice & was a proud point in the year for me.

Healthy Outlook - The Spring & Summer was when this passion was at it's greatest height. I fell into a pattern of eating well & working out regularly. I felt amazing. The best I have felt possibly. 2014 is definitely going to see this resurrected, nothing feels as good as healthy feels

iPhone - August 2013. Emma meet iPhone. I am never going back. After Blackberry had a terrible meeting with the toilet a replacement was needed ASAP, centre stage iPhone!

Job Hunting - Proving difficult through out the latter half of the year, my dream job still hasn't presented itself. Sure, I was offered jobs but none of them were really what I wanted nor truly excited me. Hopefully 2014 will bring job in the job department.

K...

Lunch in Paris by Elizabeth Bard - Probably one of my favourite, if not my favourite book, that I have read in 2013. It involved everything I love; Paris, food, romance all merged together in a beautiful story that truly set the dreamer in me into a day dreaming frenzy!

Moving - University was finished. Students we were not therefore a student flat is no longer open to us. Myself & my roomie, Emma said farewell to our home of 2 years in the City Centre & took ourselves off to a gorgeous, more mature flat located in Morningside.

New Posion - Slightly cheating with this one ...but Gin was sampled this year & has become my drink of choice over vodders. Who would have thought I would give up that tipple for a new one!

Over weight or under weight - Growing up I was never happy with my weight but this year I've developed a healthy outlook to weight & have stopped obsessing about it as much. I want to be fit & healthy not a bag of  bones!

Pixie cut, no more - March 2013 was the month I decided I had had enough of my pixie cut for now & began the painfully slow & irritating process of growing it. Now 9 months on, it is getting there but it still has a little way to go before I get my messy, wavy bob I've barked on about for months...

Q...

Resolutions - Particularly in the past few weeks, I have been thinking of what my resolutions are for the New Year. I have a few ideas flying about in my head mostly based around job goals, wanting to learn French & wanting to travel more than I did in 2013. Also, to be a little more spontaneous with things, sometimes planning isn't necessary!

Story Writing - Growing up I was always scribbling down little stories & since finishing university this has become a nice little pass time of mine. I forgot how much I loved doing it!

Twenty Four - 2013 saw my 24th Birthday. Crazy times. Two months in I can't actually believe that I am 24!

University - As I've mentioned a few times before, 2013 saw the end of University life. I was sad about this but the time had to come. I am now just excited for what else is to come!

Valerie - Valerie is my mum. The woman is an amazing person who has always been there for me.

Watching - Again a bit of a cheat but February 2013 included a little trip to see Paloma Faith. She was so graceful, beautiful & truly amazing to see live. Next time she tours, I will be there.

X - This year I let go of a lot of horrible things that had gone on in the past. I completely cut people out of my life, no way to contact me & I am so much happier for it. I've moved on. Let the past, be the past.

Yolo - One thing I've realised in 2013 is that YOLO is relevant. I sense a theme for 2014...

Z'all the best for 2014! - Slight cop out but Z is a tricky letter. I hope everyone has an amazing New Year with lots of happy times!

Life: Six for Sunday.

Posts keeping readers up to date with the bloggers daily grind are a favourite read of mine. I feel it gives the blog a little personality & you almost get some what of an insight into what the writer is up to other than blogging about their favourite foundation or their outfit for the day. Of course this got me thinking about how I was going to do this & the cheeky little post of Six for Sunday was born.

Six for Sunday is basically going to be Six things about the week past. Six activities, six things I've learnt, bought, thought... you catch my drift. So here goes!

1. This week it has felt like all I've done is work. Very much looking forward to a little break for three days over Christmas to see my family especially as I've been missing my lovely mum quite a lot today. I actually can't believe how close Christmas is now!

2. Giving Erratic Glamour a little bit of a face lift over the last week and a half has really awoken my love my blogging again. I totally fell out of it the last few months for some reason. Expect more!

3. While chatting to my lovely flatmate this week, we realised just how much has changed in a year, also how big a year 2013 has been for us. This time last year we hadn't even started writing our under graduate dissertations now we have graduated and are basically full blown adults minus the maturity possibly.

4. After getting a little tidy up on my very odd hair shape this week, I cannot wait for my front layers to drop so I can have a little bob on the go. Compared to this time last year - back to reminiscing - my hair has come quite a way.

5. Being a murder mystery super fan, the discovery of The Mentalist this week was definitely a high point. I just cannot get enough. Plus Patrick dresses insanely well and is a looker... No complaints.

6. Not sleeping enough, eating poorly and doing little to no exercise is definitely taking its toll on me. I feel sluggish, emotional and generally blah so this coming week I am trying to improve on all accounts.

Happy Sunday!

Life: Absent without Leave.

I've been a little absent without leave recently. Well for quite a while actually. I have my reasons well one main reason actually and that is I work more hours now so am quite busy and normally when my days off roll around they are spent in leggings, vest tops and hoodies... not so glamorous. Or blog worthy.

I want to get back into blogging regularly so am attempting to make an effort to produce some content at least 3 times a week so expect to see some more of me around here again!

Happy Tuesday!

Life: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind.

This post is a bit of different post for me & for Erratic Glamour but it has been playing on my mind for sometime now so I figured biting the bullet & writing it is the smartest move. Basically, I want to talk about health & fitness which has been done time & time again however I believe that everyone has a unique story to tell that people will take different things from.

A little bit of background before I get into it. Growing up I was never particularly comfortable or confident in my own skin. I was overweight, not hugely but I wasn't happy. Team this with jibes about my weight & being compared to my older brother who was skinny (now a muscly, healthy man) my self esteem was at an all time low. I wasn't happy with how I looked or who I was. No confidence to take part or speak up I hide behind a loud persona that eventually resulted in some of the loneliest years of my life.

Wanting to do something about my weight with a bid to gain a little bit of confidence in myself I embarked on a fitness DVD programme. Coleen's workout DVD, Davina, Charlie Brooks, Natalie Cassidy... the list goes one! I started to see results slowly but surely & people started to notice and I felt good about myself but I still wasn't there. Working out teamed with healthy eating was helping but it wasn't enough to help me with my self esteem. In September 2009, I moved to a new city into student halls for my first year of University. My exercise halted all together & my eating habits weren't exactly great - think late nights clubbing teamed with convenience food...

Jump to second semester second year. I joined the gym & re-found my love for working out. Joining the gym was terrifying but doing it was good for me, it scared me but I did it & guess what I survived! I had some more confidence from this but due to a bad relationship & some bad circumstances I lost this confidence. I knew I had to do something to get back on track if you aren't happy with something change it, right?

So I got back to the gym, got my motivation back & embarked once more on my healthy eating mission. One more jump, the last one I promise, to second semester fourth year. Following an injured back, my weight had creeped up every so slightly. I wasn't comfortable as I was but couldn't afford the gym so I searched out a cheaper alternative. I found loads of videos online from Tone it up, Tracy Anderson, Valerie Walters... loads. I started working out in my flat & taking runs when I wanted a little variety.

Doing this method allowed for me to work out anytime I felt like it, 8pm seems to be a prime time or early mornings for me - time I couldn't get into the gym. I adopted a healthy eating lifestyle with regular workouts resulting in more self esteem & confidence. This had an impact on all aspects of my life from university, friends, work...

It has been a long journey for me to feel comfortable in my body. Sometimes I still don't & it has resulted in a critical frame of mind with regards to my body & how I look but stopping the nasty little comments in my head is something I have to do myself. People will criticize you for loosing weight whether it be out of jealousy, spite or they simply don't think you need to but if you don't feel happy as you are then go for it, I say.
