Simple Summer.

The Zara skort - that is skirt, shorts - is all over the blogging world this summer, literally everyone & their auntie has this little baby. Understandably, it is comfort personified. Perfect for a summer day sunbathing in the park. Everything else was kept simple, too hot for fussy clothes. So I opted for a simple linen tank courtesy of H&M with a turquoise beaded necklace also from H&M. My New Look sandals & finally my Zara shopping basket.

I have been wearing no eye make up these last few days due to eczema flaring up on my eye lids, no one likes swollen eye lids, so it has just been mascara for me. I actually quite like the look of it plus it is so much quicker to get ready in the morning!

Happy Friday!

White.

I love this sun dress from H&M. It is so versatile and was only £19.99! It is a little more girly than I would normally gravitate towards but whenever I wear it, I feel good in it... never a bad thing!

Seen as it is exceptionally balmy for this Scottish girl who isn't used to this gorgeous heat a sundress, sandals & simple accessories was a must.

Tshirt Dress.

So apparently I like black and orange... who knew! This is just a little summers evening outfit I threw on last week before I went off to enjoy some of the gorgeous weather we have been having lately.

I am not a massive fan of this tshirt dress from H&M but it is so comfy & easy to add accessories if I want it to be a bit more exciting. I don't remember the exact price, I'm guessing no more than £10. Orange being my favourite colour, these wedges were a must have. Although only worn couple of times they never get boring. I added a gold necklace, bracelet and a few rings with my Topshop bag and I was good to go!

Courts free.

Since finishing university I have used the 'you worked hard at uni, you deserve a treat' excuse too many times. I will hold my hands up and admit that. On a recent trip to Zara Glasgow I couldn't say no to these gorgeous white skirt-shorts. I have seen them on a few bloggers & love the look they give - put together but not too fussy. At £23.99 they are a bargain & will go with so much for day or night!

How bloggers have worn it...

I love seeing how other style a piece which is part of the reason for my love for the fashion blogging community. This said I had a quick Google of the Zara skirt short - actually what I googled and selected a few for a little montage. Everyone loves a montage, no?

Hopefully the weather perks up a little so I can actually wear this - these?! - little beauty soon.

PS ... courts free is in reference to the belief that this looks a bit like a tennis skirt!

Nice day for a white wedding.

Some random shots from the day but this is my wedding outfit from my friends wedding. How beautiful does she look?!

Back to me... I wanted to wear a put together dinner suit to the wedding rather than a dress which meant that apart from the men - obviously - I was the only one in a suit! I kept it all black with some rose gold pointy toed heeled from Topshop - bargain sale buy last summer - a black beaded clutch and some cobalt blue H&M sparkly earrings. Layers of fake tan, lashings of eye liner and I was ready to celebrate the holy matrimony!

Rock & Roll my little girl

I used to wear jean shorts all the time but recently well since about October I wear them very rarely. It is a bit of a waste really seen as I have six or so pairs...

Que an afternoon in the Arctic conditions of the library & a need for layers to keep warm. The perfect time to wear my much loved black 'fluffy' jumper from H&M with some extra cosy tights (two pairs, naturally) & these lace detailed Zara shorts, bought last summer on a whim. They are pretty short shorts or my buttocks is on the fuller side ... I guess it is a mix of both. Shapely derrieres are so in, ya know!!

I am beyond fed up of library trips, uni has been an amazing experience. One that I have loved but to not have deadlines looming will be a treat & a half! I know I will pine for uni days constantly when it finally comes to a close but for now that shiny big bad world is calling my name...

Looking back on the photographs, this tshirt probably isn't the most flattering. I mean it covers my waist - my smallest part - but sometimes a baggy tshirt is what my body calls for. It isn't overly baggy, I liked it even if it makes me look a bit shapeless. Worse things have happened!

I have really gotten into lipstick recently, I figured a coral lip would dress this outfit up a little even if I did have to use a pink lipliner... amateur. These boots are in the bad books at the moment. Seeing as stone cold sober, I fell over in the middle of the street?! Hello ripped favourite trousers. I don't know what happened to them, they are normally fine but this time they were really slide-y on basically any floor?! Weird.

Casual

Super casual look for an afternoon in the library... story of my life!

I love my (knock off) Disco pants, they are so comfy & go with so much. I've worn them on nights out with fancy stuff & during the day with big cardigans & plimsoles.  This Topshop cami was bought with an exchange, I went for purple as I am trying to wear less black... good work moving away from all black. Dark Purple.

Coat, Cardigan & Cami: Topshop
Bag: Zara
Disco Pants: River Island
Tennis pumps: Fred Perry - very old, don't think they make these anymore

Re-trench

 photo PicMonkeyCollage-1_zps4b007f92.jpg

I wore this for uni & shopping one day but looking back on it, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I feel very Caroline Flack in it... ankle boots, collared shirt & trench coat. This Topshop swing hemmed coat was an impulse buy about 4 years ago, I had not worn it in a long, long time but decided to pull it out. I love trench coats *dreams of a Burberry* they are so classic & perfect to wear anytime.

Trench coat: Topshop - So old, it's vintage ;)

Wedding Planning

My friend is getting married on the 29th of March, I thought it was the 29th of April but that is by-the-by, que panic. I don't want to go crazy buying  a whole new outfit, as much as I would love too but there are so many pieces I've bought & never worn so I picked two that will form the start of my wedding outfit. My Zara Velvet dinner jacket & my Rose gold Topshop heels - never worn...

The shoes have been waiting for their premiere into the world since last summer so I think now is the time. I am thinking either black tuxedo pants or a nice bright printed pair with a cream camisole, sparkly bag & possibly some earrings. What would you wear them with? What would you wear to a wedding?

It feels like all I am doing the last week or so is get up, go to the library, come home, go to bed, get up, go to the library, come home... you catch my drift! This is my library outfit from today, pretty simple as there is nothing worse than being uncomfortable while chuffing through piles of literature that you have to review! These velvet shorts from Tophop were such a good sale buy, I've worn them so much during the day & at night.  I wore them with a simple black tshirt from H&M with my gold River Island watch & a few different gold rings. I wore my EBay find Safaria jacket, Topshop fur gilet & Topshop boots. Pretty simple.

I have been finding it hard to find time to blog recently as I've been so busy but I am trying hard to make time for it as I miss doing it.

Split to the thigh

First off apologies for the poor photograph but this is literally the only full length picture from the night! This side split maxi skirt is literally my favourite thing I've bought recently, I got it in the Topshop sale for £10 - half price! - the side splits got up to just off the top of my thigh so of course the Angelina leg had to come out at some point! Be rude not too. I wore it with my ASOS polo necked cropped top, some New Look Ankle Boots that have exposed zips & it isn't picture but an bright blue clutch for a little pop of colour.

I cannot wait for the weather to get a little warmer so I can wear this skirt dressed down with some plimsoles & my safari jacket or some sandals & a crop top. Come on Spring/Summer!

Finally I am back with a post featuring pictures I actually took! Life just got busy recently and blogging fell to the bottom of the list for a little while.

On Tuesday night I went to see Paloma Faith which was amazing. Her voice is unbelievable. Truly truly stunning. I wanted to get a little dressed up, it is Paloma Faith after all, but not overly dressed up so I went for my Velvet suit. Caroline Flack suit is also another name for this one. I got the Zara Velvet blazer for Christmas  & the shorts in the Topshop sale. The quality in the velvet differs greatly but to the eye you can't tell at all. With a simple black cami from ASOS, some New Look shoe boots & my little Topshop bag I was good to go. If you ever get the chance to see Paloma Faith live GO!

Check it

As of recent, something has changed in my mind in that I now realise baggy clothes do little to nothing for my figure. I have boobs - not massively huge ones but they aren't fried eggs either - and I have a noticeable bump in the trunk, which I should add I am a great fan of when I workout. Squats and bum exercises are my friend. This said, I am making a conscious effort to wear clothes that don't drown me & make me look shapeless!

These bea-utiful checked trousers were a Christmas present from my big brother & I love them. I lusted after them for so long that when I finally got them I squealed with joy. They are texture - winning - and super duper stretchy - winning, yet again - making them not only eye & touch friendly but they are wearer friendly as well. What more can a girl ask for really! I should have worn them with my boots however I mean who decides to wear bare feet & pumps in January!

Black Velvet

This New Years Eve was the first one in ages that I have actually done something for it so obviously I meticulously planned my outfit then changed it completely at the last minute. Standard.  I had planned on wearing these Topshop trousers - link - but changed to my disco pants at the last minute teamed with my Zara velvet blazer - link - Zara heels and a cream camisole from River Island. Added some mahoosive Topshop earrings & an orange clutch and off I went into 2013!

I am on the hunt for some tartan trousers, anyone seen any nice ones that aren't a fortune?

Prints & Studs

The shape of this Topshop dress (No link, I'm afraid as she is an oldie) without an added belt or the sash it came with is questionable. It resembles one of those tents you sick a pole in the middle of then pull out the sides, the wearer being, of course, the pole in the middle...

With a belt I can handle it if I am in the right mood. Shapeless baggy things tend to do very little for my body shape but we all have days where that is what screams out to us to wear.

I wore the dress with my Zara studded belt - a summer sale find, last summer I believe - which I think adds more to it than the matching sash although the belt is too big for my waist so it was low slung but I think it makes quite a pretty shape. I wore my Topshop western ankle boots - link & the usual fur gilet, leather jacket & silly sized handbag.

Other than my outfit other bits of news include...

  • I finished The Great Gatsby - amazing book. I loved it from start to finish, now all I need is May to roll around for the new film! I am now reading The House of Silk which is the new Sherlock Holmes book, I've only ready a chapter & a bit but am loving it already.
  • Over the last few days, I have been debating between the Topshop velvet shorts - link - and the Zara velvet shorts - link - HELP!! I just can't decide!
  • Home for Christmas today. I am so excited this year & I think I have my Christmas day outfit down unless Santa brings me something purdy

Just playing around

I mentioned these H&M trousers in an earlier post - link - I was debating whether to keep them or not as I wasn't sure about them but after an afternoon spent playing about with them I have come to the conclusion, I need them in my life. I have them on with my H&M fluffy jumper which has been a staple for me this autumn and winter but I think the trousers could look amazing dressed down with a simple tshirt, possibly my fur filet & some chunky boots.

£10 well spent I would say! H&M sale is so good at the moment, loads of good stuff to snap up.

Warm Rain

Skater skirts have such a flattering shape before I bought this skirt from Topshop I was a little wary of them as I normally lean more towards a fitted skirt but after purchasing this one I really like the style. I doubt I will go out and buy another one but this simple black one will suffice .... for now. The first time I ever wore the skirt was with some polka dot tights from good old M&S but sadly I ripped them on my handbag?! I know, I don't understand how it happened either. These boots are New Look jobbies from last year (I think) they have a lovely chunky heel & a nice bit of exposed zip detail.

I'm not sure what to do with my hair, I can't decide whether to chop it all off or leave it... I won't be able to get it done again till after Christmas and New Year so I could go really messy. Ahhh I can't decide.

We might get a chance to talk and talk might lead to dancing

I have a strange sense of achievement about this outfit as it isn't all black, it is mostly black but not all black is an achievement for me. I'm trying my hardest to break the all blackness that is my wardrobe. Even went crazy today & bought a blue tshirt!

River Island Disco pants are love. They are 100% the most comfortable trousers I own & go with almost anything & everything. I'm feeling better about myself today, just had one of those meh days but you were all so lovely in the comments so thank you! I think it is nice when girls show other girls support or a genuine comment or compliment as sometimes girls can be quite catty.

She's just a girl

A lot of black- again - but you've come to expect it now, I'm sure. I am trying to wear less black & also things that are more fitted as baggy stuff just doesn't really suit my shape but sometimes a big baggy tshirt & cardigan are what feels good... I did add a splash of colour with my scarf & red nail polish anything to distract from my newly dyed black hair! If you follow me on Twitter, you will know this was an accident but I actually quite like it now with a tan & some make up ... que my chummy calling me Kris Jenner! I like it for now, I always get so bored with my hair colour, I suppose it is part of having a short cut you can play about with colour a little more!

One more thing before I go & get back to my dissertation proposal which I will be using all of you lovely people for (if you are willing to help! *hopeful face*) as it is on Social Media in particular fashion blogging!
