FASHION / CO ORDS

Matching Tailoring. Hello! Nothing makes me smile - in terms of clothes - more than some tailoring, if it has an interesting pattern in a different colour then that is just a big fat bonus. While having one of my many daily scrolls through Pinterest - find me here - I came across a whole host of patterned co-ords that I instantly fell in love with. I wrote about dinner suits in particular over a year ago, if you fancy for suit based musings then you can find that here.

three reasons I love co-ords

1. It is classic tailoring (love) with an interesting spin. Chuck in a bright colour or an intricate pattern and you have an outfit that is not only versatile in terms of wearing with different items but it is a little bit different. An probably very eye catching.

2. A suit is viewed as a masculine piece. I love androgyny so it doesn't bother me too much to wear black tux trousers, a velvet dinner jacket with some sparkly accessories and killer heels (one of my favourtie outfits I won) but a little pattern thrown into the mix can pull the look back from being overly masculine. I mean you don't see every other man walking down the street wearing a well tailored suit with a pink brocade pattern on it! If you have seen a man like this, send him my way please.

3.  They work for all seasons. If it is a winter wedding, chuck on a (faux) fur jacket and some diamonds earrings - channel your inner Marlyn for the day! In summer, open toe sandals with a simple cami that is cut well and you are all set. Even chucking a polo neck under a co-ord in the winter adds detail and interest without going cray cray with more patterns or colours.

To sum up, co-ords are my fave! What do you think of co-ords? Yay or nay?

Come say hi!

Red Nails, Monochrome Pants.

I wore this outfit for quite an exciting meeting I had this morning hopefully more of which I can divulge soon but for now I will show you what I wore! I love a monochromatic outfit with a pop of colour on the nails. It just feels so classy and chic.

I wanted to present myself as a put together and professional - not a slobby slob! These trousers were an H&M sale find that when I saw them I had to have. Reduced from £24.99 to £10, it was too good to resist really. They are a beautiful light fabric that is perfect for summer time and being a simple white with black print they go with pretty much anything. I am hunting down an orange tshirt/top to really set the print off.

Today I teamed them with a simple black linen tank also from H&M, my River Island watch and black pointy toe heels also H&M! Love H&M these days. I added my little pop of colour with Maybeline Colour Show nail polish in 341 Orange Attack. This colour is so beautiful for summer, with a tan and a pretty sun dress. Be gawjus dahling!

Courts free.

Since finishing university I have used the 'you worked hard at uni, you deserve a treat' excuse too many times. I will hold my hands up and admit that. On a recent trip to Zara Glasgow I couldn't say no to these gorgeous white skirt-shorts. I have seen them on a few bloggers & love the look they give - put together but not too fussy. At £23.99 they are a bargain & will go with so much for day or night!

How bloggers have worn it...

I love seeing how other style a piece which is part of the reason for my love for the fashion blogging community. This said I had a quick Google of the Zara skirt short - actually what I googled and selected a few for a little montage. Everyone loves a montage, no?

Hopefully the weather perks up a little so I can actually wear this - these?! - little beauty soon.

PS ... courts free is in reference to the belief that this looks a bit like a tennis skirt!

Patterns, Heels & Dresses

H&M is a little hit and miss sometimes. There are times I go in and I want everything and others when nothing jumps out at me and I leave empty handed and sad to not have some other item to add to my already bursting wardrobe.

These printed pants were on a Spring Offer. Originally £14.99 each, reduced to £7.49 each - bargain! I love trousers especially printed ones. I'm still figuring out how I want to wear them - the great tight vest top vs loose vneck tee debate is raging, it is tense! - I love the depth of the red print. They look more luxurious and a richer, heavier fabric rather than they actually are.  The black with white print will go with so much. I am searching for a orange tshirt to go with these, I think it would look amazing.

The next was a "I really shouldn't buy these but I am going to" moment - we all have these! These New Look pumps were a steal at £16 (Students get 20% off at the moment) and go with everything, pretty much! I plan on wearing them with this lace sundress from H&M. I didn't have dressy shoes that would go with it on a night out so I had to buy them! My bad...

The dress is just so girly and perfect. Totally not me but I love it with a bright clutch and a deep tan. Perfect. This dress comes in mint green too, I bought this but decided that I didn't need two of the same dress when we will probably have a week of summer sunshine! This dress is exceptionally hard to photography when not on the body but you get the general idea.

Happy Friday!

White Blazer.

Over the past few days I have been craving a white blazer. Why this is, I have no idea. After
about 5 minutes wear it will probably be an interesting shade of mucky grey but it is what my heart has been calling out for! In my typical Social Media junkie character, I went onto Pinterest and Tumblr searching out white blazers. So here are a few that are pushing me towards a purchase...

Finally I am back with a post featuring pictures I actually took! Life just got busy recently and blogging fell to the bottom of the list for a little while.

On Tuesday night I went to see Paloma Faith which was amazing. Her voice is unbelievable. Truly truly stunning. I wanted to get a little dressed up, it is Paloma Faith after all, but not overly dressed up so I went for my Velvet suit. Caroline Flack suit is also another name for this one. I got the Zara Velvet blazer for Christmas  & the shorts in the Topshop sale. The quality in the velvet differs greatly but to the eye you can't tell at all. With a simple black cami from ASOS, some New Look shoe boots & my little Topshop bag I was good to go. If you ever get the chance to see Paloma Faith live GO!

Style Crush #23

I took notice of this day when I saw Josie Loves Shoes post about her style & the love affair began! Donna Wallace is Elle UK's Accessories Editor which obviously means this lady is an eye for the pretty things in life. So here are a few of my favourite looks ...

Black Velvet

This New Years Eve was the first one in ages that I have actually done something for it so obviously I meticulously planned my outfit then changed it completely at the last minute. Standard.  I had planned on wearing these Topshop trousers - link - but changed to my disco pants at the last minute teamed with my Zara velvet blazer - link - Zara heels and a cream camisole from River Island. Added some mahoosive Topshop earrings & an orange clutch and off I went into 2013!

I am on the hunt for some tartan trousers, anyone seen any nice ones that aren't a fortune?

Just playing around

I mentioned these H&M trousers in an earlier post - link - I was debating whether to keep them or not as I wasn't sure about them but after an afternoon spent playing about with them I have come to the conclusion, I need them in my life. I have them on with my H&M fluffy jumper which has been a staple for me this autumn and winter but I think the trousers could look amazing dressed down with a simple tshirt, possibly my fur filet & some chunky boots.

£10 well spent I would say! H&M sale is so good at the moment, loads of good stuff to snap up.

Style Crush #20

This weeks Style Crush post is taking a more specific topic, the topic being ... dinner suit!

I am a big fan of androgynous dressing, women in suits with perfect tailoring screams to me beautiful. A woman that can pull of androgyny is deemed classy, beautiful and a true women in my books! Don't get me wrong, a beautiful evening dress is a glorious sight & given the opportunity to wear one I would no doubt jump at the chance but tailoring has a very special - and big - place in my heart. So much so I asked for a substantial amount of tailoring in for my Christmas from Santa. (At 23, I know Santa Claus is in fact not real but my bus driver yesterday looked suspiciously like him so I was extra nice just incase he was in fact Santa in disguise. I digress)

A few of my favourites include Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss & Blake Lively giving the traditional suit a bit of colour. I have to admit I favour a black dinner suit over a colour particularly one with mixed textures - velvet & satin to name a couple - but the red is gorgeous.

A Bloggers take on the dinner suit ...

Arabella  wears this beautiful printed dinner suit beautifully. I love everything about this outfit - the print, the earrings, the blouse. Everything - it is just so well put together & pulled off perfectly.

What do you think of dinner suits? What one is your favorite?

Trousers & Books

I haven't done an outfit post in what feels like forever basically I haven't really been wearing anything interesting or that I don't normally wear ... fallen into a bit of a rut I guess but New Year out of rut & all that....

I just wanted to check in, say hello & share 2 probably not interesting pictures with you. First up, H&M sale get there it is amazing. I am considering going back again to pick up some grey jeans I saw & really wish I had bought but don't fear I did not leave empty handed. I left with these gorgeous black & white patterned trousers which were a bargain at £10!! I was umming & ahhing over whether to keep them or not but I figured i might as well sure I will find things to wear with them. The feature I like the best has to be the black strip down the side of the legs, it just adds a nice little touch to the trouser.

This is my Christmas holiday reading material, British Vogue & The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald which I am so very close to finishing & have loved every page. I am a big reader particularly of older books - for want a of a better way to say that -  I am not a fan of chick-lit modern books, I guess I like the escapism of going to another time. Everything was so much more glamorous. *Sigh*

Happy Wednesday!
