FASHION / CO ORDS

Matching Tailoring. Hello! Nothing makes me smile - in terms of clothes - more than some tailoring, if it has an interesting pattern in a different colour then that is just a big fat bonus. While having one of my many daily scrolls through Pinterest - find me here - I came across a whole host of patterned co-ords that I instantly fell in love with. I wrote about dinner suits in particular over a year ago, if you fancy for suit based musings then you can find that here.

three reasons I love co-ords

1. It is classic tailoring (love) with an interesting spin. Chuck in a bright colour or an intricate pattern and you have an outfit that is not only versatile in terms of wearing with different items but it is a little bit different. An probably very eye catching.

2. A suit is viewed as a masculine piece. I love androgyny so it doesn't bother me too much to wear black tux trousers, a velvet dinner jacket with some sparkly accessories and killer heels (one of my favourtie outfits I won) but a little pattern thrown into the mix can pull the look back from being overly masculine. I mean you don't see every other man walking down the street wearing a well tailored suit with a pink brocade pattern on it! If you have seen a man like this, send him my way please.

3.  They work for all seasons. If it is a winter wedding, chuck on a (faux) fur jacket and some diamonds earrings - channel your inner Marlyn for the day! In summer, open toe sandals with a simple cami that is cut well and you are all set. Even chucking a polo neck under a co-ord in the winter adds detail and interest without going cray cray with more patterns or colours.

To sum up, co-ords are my fave! What do you think of co-ords? Yay or nay?

Come say hi!

Listen to the silence, that hurts my heart.

Looking back on the photographs, this tshirt probably isn't the most flattering. I mean it covers my waist - my smallest part - but sometimes a baggy tshirt is what my body calls for. It isn't overly baggy, I liked it even if it makes me look a bit shapeless. Worse things have happened!

I have really gotten into lipstick recently, I figured a coral lip would dress this outfit up a little even if I did have to use a pink lipliner... amateur. These boots are in the bad books at the moment. Seeing as stone cold sober, I fell over in the middle of the street?! Hello ripped favourite trousers. I don't know what happened to them, they are normally fine but this time they were really slide-y on basically any floor?! Weird.

She's just a girl

A lot of black- again - but you've come to expect it now, I'm sure. I am trying to wear less black & also things that are more fitted as baggy stuff just doesn't really suit my shape but sometimes a big baggy tshirt & cardigan are what feels good... I did add a splash of colour with my scarf & red nail polish anything to distract from my newly dyed black hair! If you follow me on Twitter, you will know this was an accident but I actually quite like it now with a tan & some make up ... que my chummy calling me Kris Jenner! I like it for now, I always get so bored with my hair colour, I suppose it is part of having a short cut you can play about with colour a little more!

One more thing before I go & get back to my dissertation proposal which I will be using all of you lovely people for (if you are willing to help! *hopeful face*) as it is on Social Media in particular fashion blogging!

PS I love my Fur Gilet! <3

This midi dress was a sale find in New Look that has been sitting in my wardrobe waiting to be worn. Today was the red dresses day. I want to introduce some more colours into my wardrobe as I always seem to be wearing black! This was a nice change, colour isn't that scary! I wore this with my leather jacket, fur stole & my tan Zara bag for a rather long day at uni!

I recently joined Chictopia, this is my page: Chictopia

if you are on there, please come & say hello!

Short hair.

I have been writing a lot of university essay & the like as of late so I feel like my creative juices are in full flow which I is probably why I got up this morning & decided to write on short hair of all things. As some of you may or may not know I have had short hair for about 3 years & I highly doubt I will ever return to the land of long, tousled locks - it just isn't me. I feel like myself with short hair & it has allowed me to dabble in colour & cuts - it isn't as limited as you may think.

On Monday I decided to get my longer pixie cut bleached blonde barnet chopped super short & into a medium brown - I love it. I look tanned! I will know doubt get bored & go back to blonde but for now I am happy as a brunette.  I love thi article that I saw another blogger mention:

Style Crush #11

She may not be everyone's cup of tea in Made in Chelsea but personalities & opinions on such aside, the girl has style!

Rosie Fortescue mixes designer & high street to perfection. Along side a mixture of  textures, patterns & colours. Everything is pretty simple but styled to perfection & kept interesting through accessories including hats, handbags, jewellery & sunglasses.

My favourites have to be oufit 3, outfit 4 & outfit 5 ... or all of them! What is your favourite?

To ease the loss of youth

I wear this top far too much but I love the shape of it & it seems to go with pretty much everything! My favourite part of this outfit has to be the rose gold H&M necklace - it is so simple yet extremely statement at the same time. I have plans for this with another outfit but that will be coming up soon! I'm not doing too much today so just a simple easy one. I'm also back to wearing eye liner, I missed it too much...

Happy Friday!

30 July 2012

I hope someday we'll meet again.

Wearing: New Look top, River Island shorts, H&M belt, Tesco bag, Rings Ebay & Accessorize, Bracelets A mix, Sunglasses Ebay

I was all set to go chill in the park today in the sunshine then as soon as I stepped outside it rained! Typical. Instead of chilling in the sunshine I changed my room about, I love doing this. I do it so much! My style is changing a little bit recently, it is getting a little more relaxed & I am kind of loving it. I am also loving my new little above the knuckle rings from Ebay, they add a nice little touch of interest.

I am on a major major spending ban as I realised today I am skinter than a skint thing! Not good. I get paid a week on Friday so I am pretty much spending the week going to the gym, reading & on the interweb - basically no nights out or shopping. Boo hoo!

Time to see me

I'm going through a bit of a transition period at the moment, I used to be all about the heavy lined eye makeup but I'm actually enjoying just wearing mascara. It means I can bronze & highlight up my cheeks ... every cloud! Oh and lashings of gloss! I'm just having a nice chilled Sunday watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta, drinking green tea & attempting to be creative. I can't draw to save myself  - I wish I could, this wish is so strong that in Primary 1 I ran to my teacher at the front of the class in bits because I couldn't draw hands! - but I enjoy writing little paragraphs or short stories. I could do this for hours, getting lost in being someone else. I also enjoy a magazine cut out montage which is my background in most of my pictures or a little doodle in my notepad of song lyrics or quotes I love. This is the depth of my creativity. Can you be taught how to draw? Even if you can't manage hands? Happy Sunday!

Hair History

I thought I would take a little stroll through the history of my hair! What I want in my hair has changed so much. It's gone from longing for long locks to being super duper short so let's go through this...

2008. Long dark brown hair with a fringe. This was the time when I curled my hair with a curling tong every single day! I loved this at the time.

Spring 2009. Bit more blonde & full of volume. I used to do the hairspray, wrap hair round a big round brush & blast with the hairdryer. Again at the time I totally loved this, the volume was amazing.

Autumn 2009. Dyed darker again. Long & wavy. It looks so so dry here which it probably was. First semester of first year at University it was more than likely to be dry!

Autumn 2009. Still dark & shorter with a side fringe. Bit of a nothing haircut really...

Spring 2010. Back to my natural colour & back to the old favourite of a big fringe. I loved this, this was a good time in my life so I guess I like the haircut due to that?!

Summer 2010. I got the big chop! The Frankie cut came out to play. Best decision I have ever made. Loved this!

 October 2010. Shorter again.

Summer 2011. This was the red face. I loved packing on a a box dye!

 September 2011. Blonde!

October 2011. Even blonder! It was pretty much white by this point. Loved loved loved this.

March 2012. I went a darker blonde & got it cut back really short.

April 2012. Darker & cut really really short. Loved the cut, hated the colour.

Now. Loving the new cut.

The Stash

Whenever I get my hair done I go for a post haircut trip to the Boots hair department. It is tradition. I somehow feel that a new hair cut & colour requires new hair products - method to my madness somewhere, I am sure. Nevertheless this post hair dresser trip resulted in my repurchasing the purple shampoo & conditioner I used the first time I got my hair bleached - the Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes range - and getting some VO5 Miracle Concentrate. I had wanted some Moroccan Oil but it is just so darn expensive, I have heard good things about this so thought why not!

I thought COllection 2000 was on 3 for 2 - it wasn't but I got the heavy duty concealer I 100% need right now, the Healthy Mix concealer just isn't cutting the mustard on my dot-to-dot complexion right now. I got the Sheer Loose Powder as my Healthy Mix powder is a little too dark for tan that has faded sort of days. The troubles of a false tanner!

The shorts were a 'I don't really need these but I want them & will wear them so why not' sort of buy. They weren't too expensive at £22.99 so can't complain really!

Seeing as I looked ghastly in the picture of my new hair yesterday, here is a little snap shot from today ... I always think your hair is better the day after a cut. When you've been able to style it yourself. Don't get me wrong my hairdresser has never, ever done anything I haven't been more than happy with but I like messing about with it myself. So here it is... the new do!

Talk that talk

I had planned on wearing this outfit with a midi black pleated skirt but I wanted to wear my Fred Perry lace ups so had to pull on the trusty black maxi yet again. You can't go wrong with a maxi!

I love the crop tops Topshop have to offer just now, they aren't crazy prices & do the job! Can't complain. I've come to the conclusion, that lipstick that isn't super duper pale looks much more flattering. Also, a little colour on the lips is a nice wee touch.

I wasn't doing much today but I always remember the quote that goes along the lines of "No matter how you feel, get up & get dressed." So I did!

I had planned on wearing the cardigan but decided the leather jacket was a better option today.
