Nice to Matte you.

Revlon Matte Balm // Elusive

Pale skin and bright lips. Hello. Fake tan has been put back on the shelf until I sort my skin out so naturally new make up needed to come into my life. Meet my Revlon Matte Balm in Elusive. This with pale skin and touch of smudgy eyeliner sounds like a dream. A creamy, matte texture that give a vibrant pop of colour to the lips. Elusive is blue toned pink that is easily toned down with some finger dabbing.

BEAUTY / GARNIER MICELLER WATER

After trying out L'Oreal attempt at a Miceller Water, I decided to try it's larger bottled rival from Garnier. The main reasoning behind this being it is a larger bottle for cheaper! In the past Garnier products and I haven't gotten along. I have very sensitive skin and certain products strip any moisture out my skin causing an eczema outbreak. Previously the Garnier  Soft Essentials range caused havoc with my skin, it dried out my skin to the extent that my eyelids become so dry they were swollen to double the size. Not my best look.

Unfortunately after a couple of days of use, this product has done the same which is a shame because it is a nice product but I will admit I prefer the L'Oreal. I didn't feel it removed my make up as thoroughly and was a tad abrasive on my skin. Take this with a pinch of salt if your skin isn't a very sensitive. I am passing it on to my mum to use so hopefully she can get some use out of it.

Have you tried this?

Everyday Face: Made Up #3: Back to black

Natural make up was the look of choice the past few weeks for a number of reason but being a black eyeliner fan - a very big one at that - of course there would come a day when I missed the smudgy, messy look that I ran to everyday for the past few years.

This look is my no means as heavy as my previous black eyeliner look, it is still black & probably a little much for daytime but I love it too much!  One thing I am taking from my venture into more natural make up is keeping my base simple. I will no doubt still sway to a natural look every now and again but today black eyeliner was a must.

I love how dark eyes look with pale skin. There isn't one particular reason that I can put my thumb on. I just love it especially with a little bronzer as a contour & a touch of highlighter. Perfect look.

Autumn Picks: Beauty.

We all want to be warm & stylish during the colder months but a girl has to have a good supply of beauty supplies too! The winter months bring paler skin, dry skin & rosy cheeks so a little TLC doesn't go a miss when you aren't feel bright eyed and bushy tailed.

In order to make myself feel a little more preened I have a selection of product I like to reach for when Jack Frost bites. The only area I have left out is hair simply due to my pixie growth process which has covered pretty much all my haircare needs!

Nails through out Autumn and winter tend to centre around plums and reds with Nails Inc being a favourite brand. Saville Row is a rich, plum shade that is a little softer than a true black but still has the deep, gothic shade that works perfectly in the colder months. Picadilly Circus is a deep cerise shade that is interesting without being a very bright, garish pink. Think a pink for a lady! I love this shade, it is so beautiful and is an interesting colour. Finally Victoria & Albert is a beautiful true red. I am a massive red nails fan & this polish does not disappoint.

Skin & body care. I have dry skin. There is no way around it. This said, I need to moisturse daily sometimes twice... For this I have become a huge fan of Dove Purely Pampering body cream with Shea Butter and warm vanilla. I love this cream. It isn't too heavy or sticky that I can't get dressed after I put it on & the smell is light but still has a little kick. For my face, Nivea soft is a staple. This cream never lets me down.

For scent, I have gone for an old favourite of Chloe. I prefer the eau de perfume but sadly I can't part with the money currently so settled for the toilette. The smell is quite musky but smells amazing when it has settled into your skin & lingers.

A few make up picks now. For eyes, I am all about a bit of smokeyness which the MUA Undressed palette is perfect for. Plus it is an absolute steal! The colours are a mix of matte and shimmers ranging from light brown to charcoal shade making it so simple to create an interesting eye look. For lips, the Nivea lip butter in caramel cream has been a staple since the summer & I am sure will see me through the colder months. I have decided to go fake tan free this Autumn/Winter, partly due to my skin being not so great & partly due to my love of pale skin with dark eyes! For this I have stuck with my one true love, Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in shade 51, light vanilla.

Old Friend.

Since losing the eye liner for a more natural, simple make up routine I have discovered some old favourites that had fallen to the bottom of my make up mass that I call a collection. One of these favourites is Nars blusher in Deep Throat.

Deep Throat is a beautiful light pink that gives the skin a gorgeous healthy glow without being too much. The Nars website describes this shade as a "flirty, sheer pink", it is a sheer pink but on the apples with a little touch of highlighter just above it looks so pretty for day or night.

I love the Nars blushers, I really want to invest in a few others in the near future.

Everyday Face : Made Up #1

From day-to-day my make up doesn't change too much. I switch up the eyeshadow's I use or the colour of eye liner - mainly between a black or a brown - or the type of eyeliner I use - gel, liquid, kohl etc - but the base mostly remains the same. Unless I am feeling adventurous, that it.

Recenetly these have been my go to products to achieve my over eye lined, nude face, glossy lipped look.

Face:  My face never really changes too much. Sometimes I will change the product I use but I never stray too far away from the same shades. Light, pinky toned blushes & a subtle contour. Since discovering the Healthy Mix range, it has been the only foundations I have used for as long as I can remember. Hey if it ain't broken, don't fix it!

ourjois Healthy Mix foundation (Shade 53) and Healthy Mix concealer (Shade 52) Contour with Rimmel Smoked Oyster blusher and add a little healthy glow with Bourjois Beach Bloom blusher. If I am setting my make up then I will use either Rimmel Stay Matte in Shade Warm Beige, Bourjois Healthy Mix powder in 52 or Sleek Luminous Pressed powder in 02.

Eyes:  This is where I can get a bit more adventurous of sorts well more adventurous than my base!  I love playing around with different toned eyeliners and eye shadows as well as adding some spikey falsies if I am feeling particularity glam! I favourite kind of eyeliner is without a doubt a soft deep black kohl that allows me too smudge it with black eyeshadow or shades of brown. I am all about the smudgey-ness. Some people say it is a bit much for day time but I like it and without it I feel naked. It isn't a full on smokey eye but it isn't subtle.

Sleek Eau La La eye pencil in black, MUA Brown eyebrow pencil, MUA Undressed palette, Rimmel Black eye shadow, Revlon Grow Luscious mascara in black, YSL Faux Cils in black

Lips: I sometimes venture into bold lip territory but not too often. I tend to stick to a milky, glossy lip or a matte nude. Currently I have been hopping between three products: Natural Collection lipgloss in Rasperry Ripple, Niviea lip balm in caramel cream and Superdrug I love... Strawberries and Milkshake lip balm.

If/when my make up routine changes I will do another one of these just as a way of keeping up to date with whats on the old mug!

You'll probably always have a spell on me

Last week I went out for drinks with some chummies & this is what I wore... as I was in a rush & the last to get ready (how this happened I do not know as I am always the first ready?!) these pictures are re-takes! The only differences are my eye make up as heavier & darker on the night and I had on electric blue nail polish apart from that everything is the same!

Everything I am wearing are favourites of mine at the moment, apart from possibly the shoes as they have torn up my feet something awful so much so I had to limp to the camera and back...

All the items have definitely been good buys as I have worn them all in different situations and with different things - always a good sign. The top & velvet trousers are River Island items, I never normally shop in River Island but these two items have made me crave a little trip for a snoop about... The earrings have been featured before as well, H&M cannot go wrong in the earring department in my opinion. These lil' babies are getting a daytime outing tomorrow. It is my birthday after all, why shouldn't I wear sparklers during the day!

Happy Tuesday lovelies!

29 October 2012

This midi dress was a sale find in New Look that has been sitting in my wardrobe waiting to be worn. Today was the red dresses day. I want to introduce some more colours into my wardrobe as I always seem to be wearing black! This was a nice change, colour isn't that scary! I wore this with my leather jacket, fur stole & my tan Zara bag for a rather long day at uni!

I recently joined Chictopia, this is my page: Chictopia

if you are on there, please come & say hello!

Trying out

If you follow me on Twitter you will know that recently I have been having trouble with my skin. For whatever reason my face has decided a spot party would be simply the best idea ever, I disagree.  I saw another blogger talking about Avene samples from the company's website so I decided to take up on the chance of trying some higher end skin care seen as a week today I turn the grand old age of ... 23 *weeps in hands*

I got a sample of Gentle gel cleanser and the Light hydrating cream, I am really looking forward to trying them out after hearing so many good things about them. Here is hoping I will wake up tomorrow morning with flawless skin ... I can live in hope!

I don't want to live my life without you

Fluffy jumper take two. I am so pleased parted with the £14.99 for this jumper, it just works so well with what I already have in my wardrobe. I haven't worn cut off shorts in so long partly because I haven't been to the gym for about 2 months but tonight I was feeling fearless so donned the infamous Levi cut offs - the people that care don't matter & the people that matter don't care echoing in my head I trotted off down the road to the pictures to see The Perks of being a Wallflower.

Dancing & Drinks.

This is the first of my outfits from the weekend. This one being the going out installment. I love this crop top from ASOS, polo necks may be my new thing... watch this space! I know you are all on the edge of your seats...

I love these Zara sandals, I just wish they didn't cut my toes up. I came on with a bloody foot all because of these bad boys.

Everyday Face

I am really enjoying my make up routine at the moment. You know when you find products that just work for you every application - I'm there right now. These are my main products minus an MUA Black eyeshadow but I mean seen one black eye shadow, seen them all really.

I'm loving a dewy finish to my skin right now & was a massive Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum user until I decided to branch out & try the Rimmel 'Wake me up' Foundation (200 Soft Beige) which is a gorgeous foundation, maybe nicer than the Bourjois...

The Lasting Perfection concealer I use on any blemishes & the Bourjois as a little extra coverage on my cheeks & under my eyes. I set it all with the Healthy Mix powder which is alright but I doubt I will be repurchasing. Blush is normal either Nars 'Deep Throat' or Rimmel 'Smoked Oyster' both beautiful colours & consistencies. I contour & if I remember highlight with my Sleek kit in light.

I lightly fill in my brows with the MUA Blonde pencil & then line my eyes with Inika eye pencil I got free in a magazine, it is a gorgeous charcoal grey-black that set with black shadow looks nice & smokey & smudgey. I finish with Rimmel 'Extra Wow Lash' mascara applied with the wand from YSL shocking mascara.

The YSL is my favourite mascara of all time but a little pricey for me, I have found however that the wand works amazingly well with other mascaras.

It's you that's keeping me alive.

Taking outfit photographs is so much easier on a sunny day especially as my bedroom gets a decent amount of the bright, light hot stuff that is sunshine. A sight not seen all too often in Scotland. I feel the sunshine, cropped trouser season is coming to a close not so great for me as I just purchased these trousers from H&M but I couldn't not, the print was just too inviting. Again with my army jacket but it was a bargain at £2 not £4 as I said before (£4 was the postage...) & it goes with everything so expect to see it a lot...

Style Crush #11

She may not be everyone's cup of tea in Made in Chelsea but personalities & opinions on such aside, the girl has style!

Rosie Fortescue mixes designer & high street to perfection. Along side a mixture of  textures, patterns & colours. Everything is pretty simple but styled to perfection & kept interesting through accessories including hats, handbags, jewellery & sunglasses.

My favourites have to be oufit 3, outfit 4 & outfit 5 ... or all of them! What is your favourite?

Getting so much younger.

Just a really simple outfit - as I seem to say everytime - I'm just off reteraunt hunting & to see about the blue screen of death that keeps appearing on my laptop... #pleasebeok

I love this blouse from H&M, it is so versatile & comfortable, it was an absolute bargain too. The bag I got for Christmas but it is one of those things that before my style changed fitted with my old sense of style. Maybe it was a catalyst in the change... Who knows!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Style Crush #10

I think, don't quote me, that Ashley is in these pictures. I think, I find it extremely hard to tell them apart! Nonetheless the Olsen twins have the perfect mix of high fashion, boho & grunge to their style. Ashley, I feel, is the more put together twin with Mary Kate having a touch more 'grunge'. Whatever the opinion,  both styles I can't fault. They grew up in the spotlight & have 100% grown into their own styles in recent year. They own numerous successful fashion brands - they have to be stylish!

Too busy for you?

All black is one of my favourite outfits, it is just so easy & simple. I thought throwing on a gold collar & some Kate Moss pink lipstick would make it a little more interesting. Lipstick has become a big love of mine as of late, maybe it is something to do with the fact I'm not Crayola crayon-ing my eyes with eyeliner anymore?! Who knows. I'm loving it nonetheless & I can see myself going with this make up 'look' for a while...

The light is a wee bit funny in these photos & the last photograph isn't too clear but you can get the jist!

Maybe we were moving a little too fast

I love these trousers. A Zara sale find last year that has seen my through two summers, they are so comfortable & flattering plus they are a gorgeous orange - my favourite colour! #win The weather has picked up a little so we are off to the beach, wish us luck!

We're lost in these covers

Topshop vest & skirt River Island watch Ebay rings No7 Hot Chilli lipstick

I thought it was going to be a glorious day today hence the ensemble sadly this didn't happen & is now pouring but it was dry while I was out so I can't complain really. This knitted vest was in the Topshop sale for half price & has been handy for day time & nights out, I think it is just one of those pieces that goes with anything & everything. Although I do wish I had bought it in a size bigger so it was a little baggier rather than being as fitted as it is but not much I can do about that now! I have to buy a new black maxi soon, this one has started to that washed out way but it has seen my through since winter!

I'm loving my minimal make up still especially the way bright lips look with it, the eyeliner lover might be a major convert...
