Back to Basics.

While sorting through my top drawer this week, I realised I have very few simple, basic tops that can be thrown on with jeans for a casual look. With this thought in my mind & some money gifted to me by my Grandparents as a graduation gift off I went to the shops.

H&M Basics - £3.99 each

Zara Sale - £3.99

I used to spend my life in black, always black, recently I have been yearning for some colour in my life so I picked up a few colourful tops ... and one black ... can't blame a girl. Two I got from Zara in the sale for a bargain of £3.99 and two from H&M. I can see these going well with my different coloured and textured jeans, with my shorts, skirts everything pretty much!

Simple Summer.

The Zara skort - that is skirt, shorts - is all over the blogging world this summer, literally everyone & their auntie has this little baby. Understandably, it is comfort personified. Perfect for a summer day sunbathing in the park. Everything else was kept simple, too hot for fussy clothes. So I opted for a simple linen tank courtesy of H&M with a turquoise beaded necklace also from H&M. My New Look sandals & finally my Zara shopping basket.

I have been wearing no eye make up these last few days due to eczema flaring up on my eye lids, no one likes swollen eye lids, so it has just been mascara for me. I actually quite like the look of it plus it is so much quicker to get ready in the morning!

Happy Friday!

White.

I love this sun dress from H&M. It is so versatile and was only £19.99! It is a little more girly than I would normally gravitate towards but whenever I wear it, I feel good in it... never a bad thing!

Seen as it is exceptionally balmy for this Scottish girl who isn't used to this gorgeous heat a sundress, sandals & simple accessories was a must.

MUA Nail Polish

I love finding a bargain product. You know, one of those finds that results in a new favourite product. MUA has always been a brand that I have reached for, the eyeshadows are good quality for the price as are the eyebrow pencils. This said I decided to give the new line of nail polishes ago.

They are obviously Essie rip offs, the bottle couldn't be more similar if it tried but for a £1 I will put up with the shameless design pinching. I went for 2 totally opposite colours. One a pink based coral creatively named Bright Coral and the other a mint green colour called Pistachio ice cream.

Both are beautiful colours with surprisingly good quality although I think I might have got a dodgy  Pistachio ice cream as it is a little runny. Bright coral comes out a beautiful opaque shade that only requires 2 coats. Generally I always give my nail polish 2 coats so this isn't an annoyance to me.

Tshirt Dress.

So apparently I like black and orange... who knew! This is just a little summers evening outfit I threw on last week before I went off to enjoy some of the gorgeous weather we have been having lately.

I am not a massive fan of this tshirt dress from H&M but it is so comfy & easy to add accessories if I want it to be a bit more exciting. I don't remember the exact price, I'm guessing no more than £10. Orange being my favourite colour, these wedges were a must have. Although only worn couple of times they never get boring. I added a gold necklace, bracelet and a few rings with my Topshop bag and I was good to go!

Black & Orange.

Before finishing university & giving up my very central city centre flat, one last night on the town was required.  So that is what we did! I decided to wear my H&M Leather skirt back to front (zip up the back), my ASOS cami and my H&M orange clutch - for a little pop of colour. The wore my strappy New Look heels which by the end of the night were a killer but they looked nice so needs must.

Linen, Leather & Suede

This outfit is from a few weeks ago before I moved into my new flat so excuse the mess in the background! Between finishing uni and preparing to move flat it was all a bit of a bomb site...

This outfit is just a simple casual outfit I wore to run some errands. Nothing too exciting but I think the mix of textures adds some interest without having to go too crazy with accessories or colours. My hair is such a mess in the photographs, growing out a pixie cut is tough! Once it passes the awkard stage hopefully it won't be too bad...

Music Musing.

What I'm listening to at the moment #1

Following my stinky cold & an over powering urge to nest I took myself off to my bed with my laptop in tow. Music - along with reading - helps me sleep something which I couldn't get enough of the past few days so of course I needed some new songs to get me through.

Lana Del Rey - Young & Beautiful

I first heard this when I went to see The Great Gatsby and being a Lana fan I had to download it! The song is beautiful both in the context of the film and out.  Easy to listen to and just beautiful really.

Jay Z - Izzo (H.O.V.A)

Another Gatsby music musing! I heard this in the film and was reminded of this one. How I forgot about it we will never know. Definitely a song of the summer now! You can't beat a bit of Jay Z when you're getting ready for a night out.

Paramore - Ain't it fun

Adding to my growing love for Paramore, Ain't it fun is an incredibly catchy song that is relevant to my life at the moment. ..Ain't it fun living in the real world ... No Haley, not so much!  This is another summer song for sure along with Still into you.

Passenger -Let her go

This has become so popular recently. I won't be one of those people that go 'Oh I heard that aggggessss ago' cause they get on my nerves but  whenever you heard this I am sure you will agree how perfect it is.

Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines

Blurred Lines is just too catchy for its own good plus 3 charming men in suits (Well Pharell is in a suit of sorts?!) What isn't to love?!

What are you all listening to at the moment?

Red Nails, Monochrome Pants.

I wore this outfit for quite an exciting meeting I had this morning hopefully more of which I can divulge soon but for now I will show you what I wore! I love a monochromatic outfit with a pop of colour on the nails. It just feels so classy and chic.

I wanted to present myself as a put together and professional - not a slobby slob! These trousers were an H&M sale find that when I saw them I had to have. Reduced from £24.99 to £10, it was too good to resist really. They are a beautiful light fabric that is perfect for summer time and being a simple white with black print they go with pretty much anything. I am hunting down an orange tshirt/top to really set the print off.

Today I teamed them with a simple black linen tank also from H&M, my River Island watch and black pointy toe heels also H&M! Love H&M these days. I added my little pop of colour with Maybeline Colour Show nail polish in 341 Orange Attack. This colour is so beautiful for summer, with a tan and a pretty sun dress. Be gawjus dahling!

Courts free.

Since finishing university I have used the 'you worked hard at uni, you deserve a treat' excuse too many times. I will hold my hands up and admit that. On a recent trip to Zara Glasgow I couldn't say no to these gorgeous white skirt-shorts. I have seen them on a few bloggers & love the look they give - put together but not too fussy. At £23.99 they are a bargain & will go with so much for day or night!

How bloggers have worn it...

I love seeing how other style a piece which is part of the reason for my love for the fashion blogging community. This said I had a quick Google of the Zara skirt short - actually what I googled and selected a few for a little montage. Everyone loves a montage, no?

 photo PicMonkeyCollage-1_zps4e5fe0b1.png

Hopefully the weather perks up a little so I can actually wear this - these?! - little beauty soon.

PS ... courts free is in reference to the belief that this looks a bit like a tennis skirt!

Patterns, Heels & Dresses

H&M is a little hit and miss sometimes. There are times I go in and I want everything and others when nothing jumps out at me and I leave empty handed and sad to not have some other item to add to my already bursting wardrobe.

 photo IMG_4539_zps65fbcd52.png

These printed pants were on a Spring Offer. Originally £14.99 each, reduced to £7.49 each - bargain! I love trousers especially printed ones. I'm still figuring out how I want to wear them - the great tight vest top vs loose vneck tee debate is raging, it is tense! - I love the depth of the red print. They look more luxurious and a richer, heavier fabric rather than they actually are.  The black with white print will go with so much. I am searching for a orange tshirt to go with these, I think it would look amazing.

 photo IMG_4545_zps1544685a.png

The next was a "I really shouldn't buy these but I am going to" moment - we all have these! These New Look pumps were a steal at £16 (Students get 20% off at the moment) and go with everything, pretty much! I plan on wearing them with this lace sundress from H&M. I didn't have dressy shoes that would go with it on a night out so I had to buy them! My bad...

 photo IMG_4547_zpsb96e8517.png

The dress is just so girly and perfect. Totally not me but I love it with a bright clutch and a deep tan. Perfect. This dress comes in mint green too, I bought this but decided that I didn't need two of the same dress when we will probably have a week of summer sunshine! This dress is exceptionally hard to photography when not on the body but you get the general idea.

Happy Friday!

Hello!

Long time no blog! University got crazy busy but things are starting to slow down now. Thankfully. Dissertation has been handed in - a massive, massive thank you to all the Twitter users that took part in my research. Very much appreciated. My exam was today so just one report due in a week on Friday and then I am done! University is over!

I definitely want to get back into blogging now things aren't as manic. I lost my love for it a little bit but after a break, it is back! I want to blog about more things rather than just fashion and clothes. That said... if you follow me on Twitter - Link - you will know that recently I have been on a little workout kick. I have always been into health & fitness since I initially lost about 3 1/2 stone when i was about 18/19. I have wanted to be really toned for summer so I took it upon myself to get it! I have been working out 6 days a week. Not major, high intensity workouts every time but a mixture of toning, pilates and cardio. Que a few workout wear related purchases...

 photo IMG_4534_zps4b26b862.jpg
These neon shorts are from the H&M sportswear range. I got Neon pink and orange but they have 3 other colours. I love them. So comfy & easy to chuck on to workout in. Plus a bargain of bargains at £7.99! Link to the shorts is here.

In other news, I am growing my hair out! I have had a very short pixie cut for a good few years now but I fancy a change. I want some hair! The aim is a messy bob ala Julianne Hough but for now it is at this stage...

photo 30-04-13_zpsc0330035.jpg My hair now, freshly cut to let it grow in in a nice way!

photo 18-03-12_zpsee482978.jpg My hair super short on the 18th of March. I actually can't believe how short it is.

Apart from that not too much has been happening! I cannot wait to get back into blogging and to reading blogs now that I have some more free time. Enjoy this bootiful spring night!

White Blazer.

Over the past few days I have been craving a white blazer. Why this is, I have no idea. After
about 5 minutes wear it will probably be an interesting shade of mucky grey but it is what my heart has been calling out for! In my typical Social Media junkie character, I went onto Pinterest and Tumblr searching out white blazers. So here are a few that are pushing me towards a purchase...

Style Crush #23

I took notice of this day when I saw Josie Loves Shoes post about her style & the love affair began! Donna Wallace is Elle UK's Accessories Editor which obviously means this lady is an eye for the pretty things in life. So here are a few of my favourite looks ...

It's you that's keeping me alive.

Taking outfit photographs is so much easier on a sunny day especially as my bedroom gets a decent amount of the bright, light hot stuff that is sunshine. A sight not seen all too often in Scotland. I feel the sunshine, cropped trouser season is coming to a close not so great for me as I just purchased these trousers from H&M but I couldn't not, the print was just too inviting. Again with my army jacket but it was a bargain at £2 not £4 as I said before (£4 was the postage...) & it goes with everything so expect to see it a lot...

Style Crush #11

She may not be everyone's cup of tea in Made in Chelsea but personalities & opinions on such aside, the girl has style!

Rosie Fortescue mixes designer & high street to perfection. Along side a mixture of  textures, patterns & colours. Everything is pretty simple but styled to perfection & kept interesting through accessories including hats, handbags, jewellery & sunglasses.

My favourites have to be oufit 3, outfit 4 & outfit 5 ... or all of them! What is your favourite?

To ease the loss of youth

I wear this top far too much but I love the shape of it & it seems to go with pretty much everything! My favourite part of this outfit has to be the rose gold H&M necklace - it is so simple yet extremely statement at the same time. I have plans for this with another outfit but that will be coming up soon! I'm not doing too much today so just a simple easy one. I'm also back to wearing eye liner, I missed it too much...

Happy Friday!

Style Crush #10

I think, don't quote me, that Ashley is in these pictures. I think, I find it extremely hard to tell them apart! Nonetheless the Olsen twins have the perfect mix of high fashion, boho & grunge to their style. Ashley, I feel, is the more put together twin with Mary Kate having a touch more 'grunge'. Whatever the opinion,  both styles I can't fault. They grew up in the spotlight & have 100% grown into their own styles in recent year. They own numerous successful fashion brands - they have to be stylish!
